INDUSTRY: Non-profit organization
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Company X is a relief and aid agency. Besides humanitarian assistance, it implements developmental and reconstruction projects.
Established in the region for more than 40 years.
CHALLENGES
- They were relying on building’s cooling system creating a dependency on this equipment. There was not enough extra capacity available to cater for cooling demand for data center infrastructure.
- Dependencies on building power system and on Genset.
- Instant monitoring and alerts for data center in terms of cooling, power, and water leakage.
SOLUTIONS
- Proposed independent cooling units, designed for data centres. These are precision cooling types with humidity control.
- Online double conversion UPS was provided.
- Environmental monitoring system provided to monitor environmental parameters such as the following:
- Room temperature and humidity
- Water leakages in data centres
- Power failure
OUTCOME
- Proposed two units to work as a cyclic redundant system, saving a single point of failure in terms of cooling.
- No effect on input power supply quality. IT load taken from UPS feed.
- Two UPS proposed to have separate independent power lines to the IT load, in case of failure in one of the power lines, equipment will always run through its redundant power source. Thereby, redundancy is maintained through a dual power supply at the equipment level.
- SMS and email alerts are configured with EMS to get alerts instantly if any events occurs or the value reaches threshold values.
